Face the cameraKeep your eyes level, expression neutral, and hair away from the sides of your face.

Step back a littleUse an eye-level camera farther away. A close, wide-angle selfie changes proportions.

Use it as inspirationYour face does not need a “better” shape. Hair texture and the look you like matter, too.

How the estimate works

Measurements, with context.

Google’s MediaPipe model locates facial landmarks. We compare a few visible width and length ratios with simple outline rules. The shape labels come from those rules; MediaPipe itself does not diagnose a face shape.

Our rules are an unvalidated styling heuristic. They do not measure attractiveness, health, ethnicity, or a perfect facial proportion. There is no calibrated confidence score. Head angle, camera perspective, facial hair, and hidden forehead areas can change the result.

A little more about face shapes

How do I find my face shape?

Use a straight-on photo with your full face visible, a neutral expression, and even lighting. This tool compares visible face length, cheek width, upper-face width, jaw width, and chin taper. It suggests a styling category and shows an alternative when two outlines are close.

How accurate is a face shape detector?

Treat the result as a rough styling reference. These shape rules have not been validated against a labeled population and the tool does not claim an accuracy percentage. A close selfie, a turned head, pitch, expression, hair, and a beard can change the apparent outline. Try a second straight-on photo taken farther away and compare the results.

Is my photo uploaded or saved?

This face shape tool processes the selected photo inside your browser. It does not send the image or face measurements to GlowUpFace or an image-generation service. The browser downloads the detection model and software from Google and jsDelivr. Basic usage events are recorded, without the photo or shape result. Removing the photo or leaving this page clears this tool’s in-memory reference.

Does it measure my forehead or hairline?

It uses landmarks on the visible upper face, not a detected hairline. The length ratio runs from an upper-face landmark to the chin. It cannot establish your true forehead height or physical measurements in centimeters, and heavy bangs can make an estimate less useful.

Can my face have more than one shape?

Yes. These are broad style labels with overlapping boundaries. An oval–oblong or heart–diamond blend can be more useful than forcing one category. Your preferred look, hair texture, density, growth pattern, and styling time matter alongside the outline.

Can I see hairstyles on my own face?

The finder gives you free styling suggestions and guides. GlowUpFace’s full paid report includes six hairstyle try-ons on your photo, alongside the skin analysis. The report is a separate flow, with a free preview before purchase.
